Bangladesh And Tourism

As you are in Bangladeshi and foreigner, it would be a good idea to get you familiar with the lands, flora, fauna and our culture and traditions. It is a nation with lots of places to visit, many of which offer unforgettable experiences. From the longest beach in the world to the growl of the Royal Bengal Tigers of the Sundarban, the country offers everything a tourist looks for.

Cox's Bazar Sea Beach

The cox’s bazaar sea beach is the longest sea beach in the world at 120km long. Miles of golden sand, towering cliffs, surfing waves, colorful pagodas, Buddhist temples and tribes, delightful seafood- this is cox’s bazaar, the tourist capital of Bangladesh. There are also a very few Buddhist wooden temples at Ramu, a few kilometers from cox’s bazaar, well significance visiting. A drive to Teknaf, which is the southernmost tip of the main land of Bangladesh, is outstanding journey. A day trip to Moheshkhali or Sonadia, the deltic islands nestled among the Bengal wave of the Bay of Bengal, will also be really interesting. The attractions for visitors are conch shell market, tribal handicrafts. The world longest and widest with over 100 miles of unbroken sand is south Inani beach.

Cox's Bazar

There are lots of shops in hotel Motel zone catering to Bangladeshi tourist. Thins made of sea shell are very popular and also sold by vendors on the beach. You can also check out the Burmese market. You can try some local beauty products (sandal wood based), hand woven textile and bed sheets among many other thins. Bangladesh’s most another exotic location is the small coral island of St Martin’s, 60 km northeast of cox’s bazaar. Take a tour bus ride from cox’s bazaar to Teknaf and hop up on one of the three ships that do the run daily to St Martin’s.

Sundarban

The Sunderbans, the largest littoral mangrove belt in the world. It is covered an area of 10500 km of which about one third is covered in water/marsh areas. Since 1996 the Sunderbans have been a wildlife sanctuary, and it is estimate that there are now 400 Royal Bengal tigers and about 30,000 spotted deer in the area. That’s why The Sundarbans declared a UNESCO world Heritage Site. The forest aren’t just mangrove swamps though, they include some of the last reaming stands of the mighty jungles which once covered the Gangetic Plain.
The tigers are the main draw, but you can also spot saltwater crocodiles, various primates, leopards, king kobra and Indian kobras. Sundarban is home to many different species of Birds, mammals, insects, reptiles and fishes. Over 120 species of fish and over 260 species of birds have been recorded in the Sundarbans. The gengatic river Dolphin is common in the rivers. No less then 50 species of reptiles and eight spices of amphibians are known to occur.

Three districts comprise Chittagong hill tracts. Banderban, three hours from cox’s bazaar and about four from Chittagong is noted for its Buddhist temples, a waterfall and lake. Rangamati is another very popular tourism area. Accessible from both cox’s bazaar and Chittagong (77km) is well known for its tribal markets and a hanging bridge. The major attraction of the districts ,through is the Kaptai lake, a man made lake created as a result of the Kaptai Dam on the Karnapulli river.Rangamati is a small town. This place can be walking distance or you could take a rickshaw or van.

The rest of the Bangladesh is also ornamented with thousands of gems, most of which remain hidden and await exploration. Shalban vihara,Kutila mura of mainamati Pharpur(Shompur Bihar), well of life, Mohastangar, Kantajir mondir, Ramshagar, Shatgombuj Mosque, Khanjhanali’s Shrine, Shriti Shoudho etc. the sites offer architectures  from various era of the country’s history, including Buddhist, Hindu and Muslims era’s and date back thousands years.

The capital Dhaka is a pulsating metropolis with a number of attractions for the tourist.They includes but not the limited to, the Lalbagh Quilla, Ahsan Manzil, Shaheed Minar, Boro Katra, Choto Katra, the national museum, Jatiya Sangsad (the national parliament building), the Suhrwardy uddan and Ramna Park are two parks provide green respite to the city dwellers. Other tourist attraction place includes Baitul Mukaram Mosque (National Mosque), The High court building.
It is really a country with a lot of places to see, feel and experience. From the moment you think to take an opportunity to visit as a Bangladeshi and outsider of the country.
